Well I gave it a go, and yes it seems quite daunting to start off from scratch, so I may have to stick with WP for the meantime. It’s always nice to have a playaround though and when I’ve got a bit more time I might dive in again.

Hey Adem, good to have you come visit so promptly, my feed must be sitting on one of your readers

I’m not sure I’d recommend that you switch to mt, you seem to be doing well with Wordpress and you’d have to start at the bottom of the learning curve. Perhaps more importantly, Wordpress has a strong plugin community, whereas many of mt’s are commercial offerings ($30 for a simple feed reader!!). Still, it is very flexible, as long as you don’t mind putting time in. I’ll be posting some more stuff on mt in the future so perhaps that’ll give you a better idea.

Welcome back! I haven’t used mt before, but I dod remember looking into it a while back but only ever getting that far.

I think I might have to have a play and see how it compares to Wordpress, which seems to be what I’m using extensively nowadays.

Appreciate you checking. I should say that this is still kinda proof of concept. I’ve also had to leave it on freeze while my dissertation is marked. After that, I can carry on improving it and I’ll be sure to get on those bugs.

The first difference between this and the other Open Source projects you mentioned (pligg, drigg and let us not also forget the very good SocialCMS) is that this is written in Ruby whereas the others are in PHP. A opening in the Open Source bazaar I spied. Also, this is just a starting point and I hope to make some unique changes.

First impression: it took 30 seconds to load. Most people’s attention span is shorter than that.

The Brown-on-Orange menubar is quite unpleasant. The black-on-Olive at the bottom is hard to read. Changing colours is easy, choosing good ones is hard…

Leaving a comment results in: “We’re sorry, but something went wrong”.

Overall: it looks like a re-implementation of digg.com for local news. See also pligg, drigg, and isn’t reddit also open-source?

I don’t get out much these days and that also is true of my web surfing.

So having only just read of your plight I’d just like to wish you good luck, since, any advice I could give would of course be complete er Bollocks.

Still it sounds like your getting best advice available, its infuriating that you are having to pay for treatment.

I hope that this is not effecting, your studies, trust this does not impinge on social activities.

Still just to distract you a bit tried some beer brewed by Gadds yesterday, although I’m not any sort of beer connoisseur, it was different. Just thought I’d mention it, I’m more a larger man myself. I’m assuming your taste buds are OK.
