Virtualbox is an awesome application, allowing you to run multiple instances of operating systems concurrently. But getting full screen guest working on the second monitor doesn’t work by default, it always fullscreens on the primary. This drove me mad for a couple of hours till I figured it out. The answer is through the following steps:
- Fullscreen (Host+F)
- Hidden Menu (Host+Home. This only works in full screen)
- View>Virtual Screen 1>Use Host Screen 2
Voila. Simple once you know.

Thanks! This was bugging me, too.

Useful, thanks! And in case people are wondering: yes, this also works for Virtualbox under Windows or with Windows installed on the Virtualbox. Exact same instructions.
Virtualbox also remembers this setting and allows you to change it in the same way when you’re running in “seamless mode”.
So, with these instructions you can use Virtualbox in fullscreen or seamless mode on dual monitors or screens. But you cannot run it across multiple screens, using both at the same time. There’s more on that in these forum posts: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17524 and

This isn’t really virtualbox related. But, do you or does anyone else know how to get full screen to show up on a secondary monitor for say online videos and the like?
